Hello Parkview members, and all those reading my message,
Hello, and how’s everyone faring today? Wow, I see there are 460 viewings of my message posted yesterday, and welcome to those who are not members of Parkview United Church (we don’t have that many on our roll!)!
This morning I went over to the church along with the Chair of our Ministry & Personnel Committee, to see if anyone showed up, and we had three other adults come along plus a dog! – the Board Co-Chair, the Chair of our Session, and my daughter with her boyfriend’s dog Teo, who came right into church to say hi. None of us have the virus, including Teo. 🙂
Well, we had a quick meeting and decided that we want to keep a presence here in Stratford despite our church closing for three weeks. I’m going to be in my church office Monday, Tuesday and Thursday afternoons every week from noon – 4 pm, offering pastoral care one-on-one, and if you need a prayer, and if you’re not sick, come and see me and we’ll have a prayer together. This invitation is to ALL, our church members and the community. Please phone the church office to let me know you’d like to come – 519- 271-1609.
A little story I read in a devotional today: a lady was driving home through the mountains in South Carolina and she lost her GPS signal. She didn’t know where she was going. She was driving a new route on unfamiliar roads. She says: “As I continued to drive with no signal or knowledge of my location, I felt an overwhelming – but uncustomary – sense of peace. I just drove. I assumed I would end up somewhere familiar or eventually get my signal back. I have never felt so content in the midst of so much uncertainty – I took in all that was around me – so much natural beauty It would be hard not to see God in such a journey. I realized how often the stresses and worries of everyday life distract me from being present to the beauty and joyful moments of life on earth. That day was a reminder that our worry can keep us from seeing the fullness of what God provides.”
May we see God in this journey with Covid-19. God knows the road we’re on. And God is going to get us through this. And take care of us. Let’s celebrate the beauty of each other, the beauty of Stratford, the beauty of our neighbourhoods and the beauty of being present to each other. May we get safely “home” through this upsetting time.
